Introduction to HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a relatively new training concept that is becoming increasingly popular for people wanting to get brilliant results quickly.

HIIT is a specialised form of interval training that involves short intervals of maximum intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate intensity exercise or rest. As you push your body to it's limits you're working at the top end of your aerobic capacity. Recent research suggests that your body is in an elevated fun burning state for up to 20 hours following your workout.

One of the great things about HIIT is that it can be done on all the popular cardio machines inside easyGym (treadmills, bikes, adaptive motion trainers or cross trainers) or with just your body (burpees, star jumps, squat jumps, mountain climbers and or even just sprinting on the spot).

Your HIIT workout should be a short one (under 30 minutes including a warm up, rest periods and cool down) It may not seem like much but you'll quickly see the difference it makes to your fitness goals.
